The City of Valognes, labelled County of Art and History by the Ministry of Culture, has the treasures of an exceptional heritage. This patrimonial dimension permits a cultural life covering multiple venues of its territory all over the year:

• historic and theme-based exhibitions, presence of painters and sculptors, marked opeining towards modern art
• Book Fair, presence of writers, Literary Prize and writing workshops
• Music and dance in the surroundings of ancient stones and gardens
• Theatre and living art, thorough action thanks to the partnership with the teachers of the City
• Public libraries labelled "Museums of France", which are part of the network of the museums of Basse-Normandie.

Particular attention is given to the young and school children.

Accessibility as well is thoroughly taken care of: translation of some performances into French Sign Language and guided tours adapted to certain types of handicaps.
